Abide in me…Love one another
In John 15 Jesus charges his disciples to stay firmly connected with the life that flows through him. Abide in me. Abide in my love. This is your source for life. And the invitation is for all of us who choose to follow Jesus to remain so completely connected to him that we also experience his life in us.
Love one another. Along with the life that flows to us through Jesus, his desire is for that very life to produce love that flows through us to all those around. As I have loved you, so also you are to love one another.
This is our year verse for 2016. Abide in me… love one another. The Lord is inviting us to explore and live out this principle life source. It is not new direction for Wellspring. We have long since desired to “experience the depths of God’s love… release the flow of God’s kingdom.” As we look at John 15, we will seek to grasp and apply the full measure of this principle.
We have launched a 10 week study. However, I believe the Lord’s intent is for more than understanding. More than instruction. I’m confident that his desire is that this phrase, “abide in me… love one another,” would actually describe us as a community of believers. Just as Jesus charged his disciples, the Lord desires for us to embrace and live from the life-giving reality of what it means to remain intentionally connected to our Savior. I look forward to the journey the Lord has set before us.
