Welcome to Ben Toalston, Our New Director of Worship Life
We are delighted to announce that Ben Toalston will be Wellspring’s new Director of Worship Life. Ben, his wife Julie-Ann, and their girls have been part of the Wellspring family, and involved in worship for nearly ten years.
We will formally welcome him during the service this Sunday, but Ben first wanted to share a little bit about the journey that brought him to Wellspring. Please join us in personally welcoming and praying for Ben into this new role.
Wellspring family! I am humbled and excited to serve as the new Director of Worship Life. Our mission is “to be a Wellspring of life for our church, in our communities, throughout Connecticut, and to the world.” I believe that worship is primary in fulfilling this mission, and vital in shaping the culture and atmosphere of our church.
It was nearly ten years ago that God led me to Wellspring. After earning my degree in Worship & Prayer, and serving as musician and worship leader at the International House of Prayer in Kansas City for five years, I began to feel God calling me back to Connecticut. So I began a fast, asking God to make it abundantly clear if I should return to Connecticut. On day one of the fast, I noticed a job posting on the community bulletin board: “Director of Worship Life, Wellspring Church, 222 Lincoln St., Kensington, CT” How strangely specific! While the posting was actually several months old and the position had already been filled, it was the answer to prayer that God used to lead me back to Connecticut and to Wellspring. I’ve been a part of this congregation ever since.
I believe God led me to Wellspring because its mission and much of its calling mirrors my own. Our congregation has a history, depth, and a calling as a community that hosts God’s presence and I look forward to leading and laboring with you all in continuing and developing this calling!
