Passage: Nehemiah 5
Overview: Chapter five of Nehemiah shifts the focus from the wall to serious issues that were threatening to tear the community of returned remnant apart. The wall needed to be rebuilt in order to protect the citizenry; but when a famine hits the land, the rich and powerful were taking advantage of their less well off kinsmen. We look at how Nehemiah addresses this crisis and how we can address the issues that threaten community in our context.
