“My beloved speaks and says to me, Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away.” (Song of Solomon 2:10)
Kerrie Butterfield reminded us that two sisters, Mary and Martha, both welcomed Jesus into their home. Martha got distracted by the meal preparations, but Mary honored Jesus by sitting at His feet and listening. She not only hung onto His every word, but she also hung onto His word. Kerrie also reminded us that God wants us to be Lovers and Listeners—enjoying and delighting in His Presence and in His word. On Friday September 21, we’ll have the opportunity to do just that. We’ll spend some quiet, uninterrupted time with the Lord in an atmosphere of soft worship music and dim lights.
