"Summer Nights" at Mt. Pleasant on July 28th!

WHAT:  On July 28, Wellspring will be relocating our normal Wednesday night “Summer Nights” service to Mount Pleasant from 7-8 p.m. The evening will focus on worship with a testimony or two. Light refreshments will be served and a prayer/ministry tent will be staffed. We are thrilled about this opportunity to invite the Mount Pleasant community of New Britain to worship with us, and we look forward to a special night of God’s presence and blessing.  

In case of rain, Summer Nights will take place at Wellspring as usual, and the Mount Pleasant event will be rescheduled.

WHY: The Expansion Task Force has met over the past several months to address the space issues associated with Wellspring’s tremendous growth.   We made a recommendation to the elders to add a third worship service, a recommendation that was recently approved. Plans are underway for a Saturday night service @ 5 p.m beginning this fall (you’ll hear more about that later).  

 

The Task Force then began to seek the Lord’s heart on how He would have us extend worship services beyond Wellspring.   We originally envisioned the development of a worshipping community similar to Wellspring in a distant location. However, the Lord quickly redirected our focus locally, specifically to the Mount Pleasant community of New Britain.    This redirection was somewhat of a surprise to us, because it doesn’t appear to address the long-term space problems we convened to solve. However, in some ways, the Lord’s redirection seems obvious; Wellspring has been committed to an outreach effort in Mount Pleasant for many years through the “Wellspring of Hope” initiative which has cultivated “Big L” and “Celebrate Mount Pleasant”.    One of the goals of the “Wellspring of Hope” initiative has been to establish a worshipping community at Mount Pleasant…

 

We know from scripture that the Lord often reveals His plan to us gradually, in part (1 Co 13:9; Dt 29:29).   And this seems to be the way He is currently working. We do not yet have a clear picture for how a worshipping community will be established in or near Mount Pleasant on a long-term basis. But we believe the Lord is leading us to simply “start”. 

 

 “Summer Nights” is the perfect opportunity to extend our worship to the Mount Pleasant community and continue to build upon the open door and favor we are finding there! We are very excited that many months of planning and prayer have culminated in this special event.  So, we invite you to walk out this exciting process with us by joining us for “Summer Nights” at Mount Pleasant on July 28 from 7-8 p.m.  

 

  

Mount Pleasant is a housing project located between Richard St. and Armistice St. in New Britain. From Wellspring, turn LEFT onto Lincoln Street, and then LEFT onto Corbin Avenue. For parking, you can the do one of the following: 

(1) Travel about 1.3 miles on Corbin Avenue and turn RIGHT on Leo Street, which is the 3^rd street on the right past Stop & Shop. Park in the parking lot at the end of Leo St and walk to the upper basketball court at the end of Richard St .

(2) Travel about 1.2 miles on Corbin Avenue and turn RIGHT onto Myrtle Street, which is the 1^st street on the right past Stop & Shop. Take your first left onto Armistice Street. Park in the parking lot there or directly on Armistice Street.

(3)   Travel about 1 mile on Corbin Avenue and park in the Stop & Shop parking lot on the RIGHT....it's only a short walk up Corbin Ave, then turn RIGHT onto Richard St and that will bring you to the middle of Mt Pleasant.
