Breath of Heaven-Sicily Information Meeting Sunday March 11th
This Sunday March 11th at 1 PM in Conference Room 2 (behind the sanctuary) we will hold an information meeting for the Breath of Heaven-Sicily event. The ministry trip is scheduled for May 27 – June 3. We invite anyone interested in learning more about the event and the trip to attend this meeting.
Pam and I just returned from a very fruitful week of preparation in Sicily. We had the opportunity to connect with pastors and leaders from 10 different churches and ministries. We shared our vision to use the Calvo resort property as a resource for the church. And we invited them to attend the initial event, which we are calling Breath of Heaven-Sicily.
Vision and plans for this event are continuing to come into focus. We have shared with you before that the Breath of Heaven conference will prepare the way for the property and the local churches to host events, and also host the Lord’s presence. This past week, we witnessed the spiritual significance of Breath of Heaven as an opportunity for relational unity. Pastors from neighboring towns, some who didn’t even know each other, joined together and joined us for a lunch meeting on the property. Every single one who was invited attended, and some brought others with them as well.
We shared our heart to serve them through this event and by using this property. They responded with expressions of gratitude and offers of help in any way possible. I shared with them, and I share with you, that I do not know all that is before us, but doors and hearts continue to swing open wide. The Lord’s favor is undeniably before us and leading us, even thrusting us forward. It reminds me of our year verse a few years ago.
Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out [or thrust forth] workers into his harvest field.” Matthew 9:37,38
This is our invitation. Not only does Wellspring have an opportunity, but we are being thrust forth in a most unusual way. We are being called by God to take the breath of heaven that blows through our camp meeting here at Wellspring every fall, and bless Sicily with it. We will build an altar of praise there and call for a fresh wind from heaven to ignite those altars and even the hearts of the dear people of Sicily.
This was not my original vision, but it’s what the Lord is fashioning. I have invited many to participate in this event, but the ministry team is shaping up to be the same team that comes to Wellspring: Jeff Collins, Matt Rudolph, Paul and Rachel Verheul, me and possibly a few other friends. What would have felt contrived to me (take the Breath of Heaven conference from Wellspring and repeat it in Sicily) is being orchestrated by the Lord.
That’s where you may come in. We need a Wellspring team. We will provide prayer and worship behind the scenes throughout the week. We will need altar ministry. And there will be countless places and ways to help and support throughout the event.
This Sunday at 1 PM, we will share with you more details about the dates, schedule, costs, and opportunities for you to join us. We realize that a commitment to the Wellspring Sicily team is a big commitment, but if you are feeling “thrust forth” about this initiative, then we welcome you to join us for this information meeting. We look forward to seeing you there.
