Let’s Celebrate the 10th Annual Celebrate Mount Pleasant on June 10th!

Is it possible to celebrate a celebration? We think so, and that’s what we’re going to do!

10 years ago Wellspring felt prompted by the Lord to invest our outreach efforts into our neighboring city of New Britain, the city of our church roots. We named this initiative Wellspring of Hope. One place we have focused is the Mount Pleasant neighborhood, a low income assisted housing complex. The following year we began an annual work day called Celebrate Mount Pleasant, a day where the Wellspring community joined the Mount Pleasant community in yard work, painting, gardening, repairs, even “mini home makeovers.” However, the real significance each year has not been the work, but the relationship we have been developing between our communities.

This year marks the 10th Annual Celebrate Mount Pleasant. So instead of a workday we will host a celebration. That’s right, we are going to celebrate Celebrate Mount Pleasant!

We are shifting the event from a Saturday workday to Sunday afternoon picnic. Think of a Sunday afternoon church picnic, but instead of holding an event for ourselves, we are going to bless the residents of Mount Pleasant by hosting a festival like picnic on their property to bless them.

Currently we are working with the Housing Authority and our Wellspring of Hope team. We will share with you the details as our plans come together.

For now, we ask you to do two things:

1. Mark your calendar for Sunday afternoon June 10. It will be a day to enjoy, a day to bless others, and a day to celebrate 10 years of a growing relationship with a community that is precious to the Lord and to his heart.

2. Please let us know if you would like to be part of the planning process. Not all of Wellspring is involved with our outreach in New Britain, but we are inviting the whole church to the event. We welcome your input and assistance in planning and coordinating this worthwhile celebration. If you are interested, simply e-mail us at office@wellspring.net

Blessings,

Pastor Wes, and the Wellspring of Hope team
