Update from Pastor Kevin
Check out the video above to hear from Pastor Kevin about our ministries and finances.
“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. “ – 2 Corinthians 9:6-8
This passage is loaded with amazing spiritual principles and the heart God has for us in giving. Personally, one of the most powerful yet most difficult things Kerrie and I have had to learn over the years is the principle of trust in relationship to generosity. The Lord has continued to show us that if we trust Him with our finances and learn to give cheerfully and generously that we can trust Him to continue to bless us abundantly. Not that God hasn’t already blessed us beyond what we could ever deserve or that God was obligated to bless us if we follow a formula of giving, but rather if we learned to trust Him and His heart in giving like He gives, that we will live in the blessings He has for us. We have seen time and time again that if we learn to give (time, resources, finances, talents etc.) generously He always uses what we give Him beyond what we could have imagined, and it makes room for Him to trust us with a greater capacity to steward His blessings. This has been a relational journey with God not merely a financial transaction and we have been blessed by watching Him do miracle after miracle for His glory.
Last week I informed the Wellspring community that we are behind in our giving this year, we are 11% down as compared to last year. We did this to let you know the reality of where we are, to ask you to pray with us for provision and for you to prayerfully consider with the Lord your giving to His Kingdom work here at Wellspring.
This is not an appeal to have anyone give reluctantly or by guilt and compulsion at all. It is between you and the Lord. We are truly thankful for all you give to the Lord here and want to bless you for the sacrifices made on His behalf.
However, if you are not yet tithing or giving regularly, generously and cheerfully then I want to ask that you to consider asking the Lord to show you His heart for the relational dynamics of giving as He leads you into trusting Him. We are living testimonies to how it will bless you as you watch what God does in you and your life. Everything in the Kingdom is a relational journey of trust and obedience. Please keep praying that we all would continue to trust the Lord for all of His promises to become reality and the He would get glory as we partner with Him in bringing and building His Kingdom on earth as it is in Heaven.
