First Quarter 2020 Financial Update

I am encouraged to report that for the month of March, our tithes and offerings were 100% of the budget even though we have not been able to gather in church for the past 2 weeks. I also praise God for a strong first quarter in light of the uncertainty and financial stress over the last few weeks. We ended the quarter almost even in tithes and offerings vs. expenses. This is worthy of celebration! Historically, the winter is a tough season with higher expenses and lower giving. We were significantly “in the red” at this same time last year. We are going into April 2020 in a much better financial situation than we were in last year. Thank you all who have given so generously and faithfully throughout the first quarter of 2020.
I was reading an article last week about the effect of the Coronavirus on church giving. It said to “take a moment to remind yourself that God is still in control. He knew you’d have to face this challenge, equipped you for it, and promised to walk with you through it. Seek Him in His Word each day and ask Him to meet your needs as well as provide for the needs of your congregation in miraculous ways.”
God overwhelmed me with gratitude as I read this section of the article. We were so thankful for God’s provision for Wellspring of a $75,000 surplus in 2019. We had no idea what the future would hold. He knew what was coming and knew we would need the extra surplus. Although the first quarter was good, we do not know what the coming months will bring. We pray for your continued faithfulness and generosity during this difficult time.
Also, I want to encourage you that just as the Lord is watching over Wellspring’s finances, He watches over yours as well. If you’re concerned about your own situation, or what the future holds, please believe that these same truths apply to you. The Lord knew what was coming and is our Jehovah-Jireh, the Lord who provides. We can’t see the future, but we can fix our eyes and our hope on the Lord. And we can rest in the comfort and peace of His love, faithfulness, and provision.
