MISSIO Student Ministry Update
Student Ministry Meets Wednesday Nights at 6pm in Wellspring’s Parking Lot (for the summer)
These past few months brought on quite a few changes. Everything from the pandemic, to the shifting of leadership presented many challenges. Meeting through Zoom video conference calls on Wednesday nights and still attempting to keep connections strong was definitely one of them. My wife Jovanni and I were excited to step into our new roles and begin working with the youth as well as the current leadership. During our last few weeks meeting on Zoom we focused on and discussed taking authority over our thoughts (2nd Corinthians 10:5), and being mindful of what we speak (Proverbs 18:21). We also discussed making sure that our actions match what we claim to believe, and being intentional about God’s glorification in and through those actions (Colossians 3:17).
I fully believe we made the most of the opportunities we were given while on Zoom. However, the afternoon of July 15th allowed us to get back to some semblance of “normal”. MISSIO Student Ministry had its very first in-person service in over 4 months! It was an excellent opportunity for the youth and leadership to see one another again! Attendance was great and the fellowship was priceless, but that wasn’t all. There was an intense game of wiffle ball which ended in a walk off home run, as well as a celebration of our high school senior graduate, Esther Moon. The students and leaders ended the night by taking time to pray and prophesy over her with words of encouragement and destiny as she prepares her journey into this next season.
Unfortunately, forecasts of thunderstorms the following Wednesday pushed us back to meeting on Zoom. Nonetheless, the plan moving forward is to continue meeting in person outdoors. The prospect of proceeding with in-person meetings has us all excited to say the least. As long as weather and guidelines permit, MISSIO will be taking full advantage of the opportunity to enjoy one another’s company with the intent of growing corporately and independently into the image and reflection of Christ. Please keep the youth, leaders, and MISSIO Student Ministry as a whole in your prayers as we embark on this next chapter!
