Wo’iyopastake Ministry [pronounced: WO-ee-yo-PASH-ta-ke] is a ministry to encourage, support, strengthen & help the Lakota pastors and other Christian leaders on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. This reservation is among the poorest places in the entire USA and many families really struggle to make ends meet.
Wellspring supports the important work Wo’iyopastake Ministry does throughout the year, but at Christmas time we have a special opportunity to bless the children on the reservation. By putting together a shoebox Christmas gift, we can bring joy to boys and girls who would otherwise receive very little at Christmas, while also reminding them that they are loved and valued by people around the country and by their Heavenly Father.
Last Christmas, through your great generosity, we were able to send 220 shoebox Christmas gifts to these children, who are among the neediest in the whole United States. We’d love to meet or exceed that number this year, but we need your help.
We will once again be collecting shoebox Christmas gifts for the children of the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. On October 24th and October 31st you can pick up a cardboard shoe box at the table as you come in the door. There will be instructions detailing how to fill it. If you prefer, you may use your own cardboard shoe box. It is not necessary to wrap it, but if you do, please wrap the top and bottom separately as we have printed materials to add. Also, if you are able, please include $7.00 to help cover shipping. Shoeboxes will be collected on November 7th and 14th. Thank you in advance for being the hands of Jesus to those in need.
There will be a table as you walk in the door on the following Sundays:
Oct. 24 & Oct 31: PICK UP – We will be handing out the cardboard shoeboxes and information.
Nov. 7 & Nov. 14: DROP OFF – You can drop off your box at the table before the service on these Sundays, but the sooner the better so we can prepare them for shipping.
FINAL DAYS we can receive boxes is Monday, Nov. 15 (from 9am – 2pm); and Tuesday, Nov. 16 (9am – 2pm), as they are being shipped to South Dakota the following day in order to arrive in time for Christmas.
