What is Open Sky?
Open Sky Arts Collective is a professional dance company and community of believing artists who partner with ministries and organizations to bring the good news of Jesus Christ to the poor and under-served communities through dance.
What is this fundraising event for?
In June, Open Sky Arts Collective has the honor of partnering with ministries, studios, and churches in Cookeville and Nashville, Tennessee to serve at risk youth, kids in low income communities, and neighborhoods through block parties, park outreaches, and working with a bus ministry called DUO (Do Unto Others) that provides free medical care, dentistry, and other services.
In July. Open Sky will be taking their 6th annual trip to Parkersburg, West Virginia, a community that has been hit hard with the drug crisis, that has been the overdose capital of the United States for several years running. Children are left as orphans in their own homes as parents struggle with incredible addiction, and poverty, neglect & abuse run rampant.
Open Sky has been partnering year after year with a church in the middle of this neighborhood and has set up an arts and sports camp for these survivor children called Open Sky Clubhouse. We feed them 3 meals, share Jesus, provide lots of fun games & activities, dance classes, sports and arts classes, break into small groups where the kids can feel safe and loved and listened to and supported. We supply them with new shoes, and Bibles and backpacks and are in awe that we get to be a part of what God is doing there.
What are the details of the Fundraising event at Wellspring?
The Open Sky Connecticut chapter will share a one hour performance of group and solo dances. During the hour, leaders of dance company will share about the missions trips and ways that attendees can partner with the effort through prayer and and additional support.
