Movement in Worship Workshop

Movement in Worship Workshop: Connecting your heart with the LORD through expressive worship

Have you ever felt drawn to “do” more in worship? Have you ever felt the nudge to move around – maybe even to dance, or to wave a flag? Have you entered in or held back? Movement in worship can be powerful and freeing, but why do we worship? We know that the Lord is enthroned on our praises and He loves to meet with and connect with His children when they come before Him in worship. When we worship the Lord we bring our praise offerings before Him.  We express thanksgiving for who He is and what He has done in our lives.  We show appreciation for the promises yet to come. There is so much more to worship than simply showing up on a Sunday morning. We are given a great opportunity to encounter the living God any time we come before Him with our praises. The Lord is good and gracious to meet with us every time we come to Him with our praise offering.  He rejoices with our joyful offerings and comforts us when we come with broken hearts. We can be drawn into connection with the Lord in many different ways: by singing, raising our hands, dancing, moving around, waving flags, and more. There is no right or wrong way to worship the Lord, as long as your heart is connecting with His.

On July 23rd from 12:15 to 2:30, there will be an experiential workshop for anyone who would like to learn more about including movement in worship. We’ll discuss what the Bible tells us about different forms of worship and there will be opportunities to listen to the Lord’s leading and experiment with putting these ideas into practice. This workshop is open to children and adults of all ages who would like to learn more about movement in worship and would like to try out worshipping with movement and/or flags. Whether this is completely new for you or something that you are already doing, all are welcome. Elementary aged children will need to have a parent or other adult with them. Lunch will be served so registration by July 16th is a must. The cost is $5.00 per person/$10.00 per family to help cover the cost of lunch.  You can sign up at the table in the café on July 9th or 16th, or call the church office at 860-225-0661.
