Christmas Hope Bags for Guatemala
While we are enjoying the beauty of the Fall in New England we want to turn your attention to Christmas in Guatemala. We have the opportunity to bless children living in poverty in Guatemala with the joy of Christmas. Wellspring has enjoyed a rich history of partnering with Hope of Life International (Click here for more info about Hope of Life) for over 2 decades, many in the congregation have travelled to their Guatemalan base on mission during that time, and this is a new way for the congregation to make a difference in lives there. The bags will be shipped by container and dispersed by their sponsorship program to children all over rural Guatemala.
Christmas bags will be available in the café for you to pick up on Sunday September 24 and Sunday October 1. The deadline to return bags to Wellspring is October 8th, but feel free to bring them back anytime before then! They are available in green for boys and red for girls, and are for varying age groups from ages 3- 12. You will fill them with a variety of items from hygiene supplies, school items, clothing and of course toys. There will a complete list of suggestions, as well as some don’ts, and packing instructions available when you pick up the bag. In addition, we would love for you to include a small card with a Bible verse and/or a word of encouragement for the child, the cards will be available when you pick up your bag. A $5 donation to help cover the cost of shipping is optional, but much appreciated. So, get your family and friends involved in launching your Christmas season early and spread the joy!
If you are unable to get to church to pick up and drop off a Christmas Hope Bag, or if you don’t have time to make one up, you can make a donation towards them. For every $35 given, Wellspring will make up and ship one Christmas Hope Bag. You can give cash or a check at the table in the cafe or you can pay by card online. Deadline to donate is October 1st.
