140th Anniversary Celebration
As the clock neared midnight on December 31st, 1883 an intrepid group of Swedish immigrant believers gathered at the home of Rev. and Mrs. Theodore Clafford at 108 Glen Street in New Britain, Connecticut. That night they worshipped the Lord, prayed and then covenanted together to form the Swedish Elim Baptist Church. Those 18 faith-filled souls described the meeting as “an Upper Room” experience in which they met with the Living Lord to launch a new church, even as had happened centuries prior in Jerusalem.
Now, 140 years and a few moves and a few name changes later, Wellspring Church will celebrate that momentous beginning and decades of the Lord’s faithfulness on Sunday, December 31st, at the 10:00 AM service. The pastors and elders are urging all of you to make it a priority to be part of this service of celebration, testimony, and remembrance. The worship service will be followed by an anniversary party in the café.
We have several surprises planned for that service, as we look both backward and forward to highlights from the past and exciting challenges in the upcoming New Year. You won’t want to miss it!
