Hello all!

Just a quick note...

I did these teachings with the collaboration of Dr. Jessica Sanderson, a gifted counselor and Director of Initiatives at the Urban Alliance, a networking and resource ministry to the Body of Christ in Greater Hartford.  The additional resources that accompany the videos of the teachings were compiled by Dr. Sanderson and they are excellent.  Each one contains a lot of practical information as well as listing many other additional resources on each of the topics.

I also want to invite any of you to share any testimonies with us as to how some of these materials and teachings have helped you in your journey.  Your testimony can become an encouragement to others!  Simply send us an email to:  Communications@wellspring.net

I pray each one of you encounters the shalom of the Lord during this Christmas season.  He is our peace and wholeness and hope!  It is precisely for times like these that he came to bring his saving help to our troubled world!  Merry Christmas!

Overcoming The Stigma of Mental Health

Our mental health affects how we think, feel, choose and behave.  Paying attention to it is a requirement for effective long-term discipleship.  Nine months into a covid pandemic, we are also experiencing a mental health pandemic.  Overcoming the stigma of facing a challenge and getting help is the first step to getting better.

Overcoming Depression

What is depression? What are the causes of depression?  How does one cope with depression and overcome it?  Dr. Jessica Sanderson shares insight from her own journey, her counseling experience and from the Scriptures to answer these important and timely questions.

Overcoming Fear and Anxiety

The most frequent command in Scripture is to “Fear not!”  Yet fear is a God-given emotion to warn us of impending danger.  How do we live in a some-times fearful world and not live from a posture of fear?  What can we learn from our fears and anxiety?  How do we overcome fear and anxiety when we get stuck there?

Overcoming Trauma

Trauma comes in many varieties.  Some of it is overt and obvious; sometimes it is more hidden; sometimes it is the trauma of lack.  Dr. Sanderson explores the definitions of trauma and draws upon the Scriptures and her experience as a trauma therapist to help us find ways to overcome the effects of trauma to our souls and our brains, thereby helping us to recover our lives.

Overcoming Addiction

What are the spiritual dimensions to addiction?  What opportunities does awareness of addictive behavior present to us?  How the “gift of desperation” can introduce us to ourselves and to the Lord.

Dr. Jessica Sanderson

“I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over ten years of experience working with individuals, couples and families in the Greater Hartford community.  I use a strength-based approach to help clients identify and tap into their God-given strengths in order to establish and achieve their goals. My continued prayer is that God would use the therapeutic process to help clients more fully experience their identity as God’s child and as a result increasingly glorify God through their actions and relationships with others. Areas of specialty include healing from trauma, depression and anxiety, and couple and family relationship difficulties.”
