Our family began attending Wellspring in 2018, shortly after we moved to New Britain.  The first thing we noticed and appreciated was that the Holy Spirit was free to move in Wellspring’s worship services with people of all ages visibly engaged. I have led worship in many churches since my teens, so I knew this was a sign of a healthy church.   We also appreciated the century-long history of faithfulness at Wellspring, exemplified by the pastoral staff.  My vision for Wellspring is that we continue to build on the good foundation that we have inherited, so that “the latter glory of this house shall be greater than the former” (Haggai 2:9).  My wife Carissa and I have always been deeply involved in the churches we’ve attended.  We are strong advocates for the small-group discipleship model of spiritual formation, which we learned through InterVarsity Christian Fellowship in college.  We started a small group at Wellspring that has been meeting in some form or another for over two years, and we would like to see these “life groups” flourish and multiply.  I joined the Wellspring worship team and have been glad to play regularly and occasionally lead.  I am passionate about songs with rich lyrics that instill the truths of Scripture deep into our hearts and emotions.

By day, I work as a professional physicist in the defense industry. I have a Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University in applied optical physics.  I worked as a (civilian) operations research analyst for the Navy for nine years in Maryland prior to moving the family “back” to my home state of Connecticut.  Carissa and I will be celebrating our twentieth anniversary this summer.  We have been blessed with five children: Bethany (17), Andrew (15), Joel (14), Juliet (12) and Sela (10).  We give thanks often for the Wellspring youth group and children’s ministries, which have been and continue to be a huge part of our children’s lives.
