In Daniel 7, Daniel records a dream that he had. It is parallel to the dream of Nebuchadnezzar found in chapter 2. Again, this dream answers the question hauntingly raised in Psalm 137--"How can the faithful sing the songs of Zion while in Babylon?" Or, to translate, how can we live, trust and hope while living in "exile." God's big answer to this is that He is in charge over the affairs of humankind and the trajectory of history. As life for the Christ-follower in America increasingly feels like it is being lived in exile, this is an important hope to know how to live out our discipleship.
